Liposuction in Mexico, also known as lipoplasty (“fat modeling”), liposculpture suction lipectomy (“suction-assisted fat removal”) or simply lipo, is a cosmetic surgery operation that removes fat from many different sites on the human body. Areas affected can range from the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks, to the neck, backs of the arms and elsewhere.
Several factors limit the amount of fat that can be safely removed in one session. Ultimately, the operating physician and the patient make the decision. There are negative aspects to removing too much fat. Unusual “lumpiness” and/or “dents” in the skin can be seen in those patients “over-suctioned”. The more fat removed, the higher the surgical risk.
Not everyone is a good candidate for liposuction. It is not a good alternative to dieting or exercising. To be a good candidate, one must usually be over 18 and in good general health, have an ongoing diet and exercise regimen, and have fatty pockets of tissue available in certain body areas. Significant disease limiting risk (e.g. Diabetes, any infection, heart or circulation problems) weigh against the eligibility of a person for the procedure. In older people, the skin is usually less elastic, limiting the ability of the skin to readily tighten around the new shape. Liposuction of the abdominal fat should not be combined with simultaneous tummy tuck procedures due to a higher risk of complications and mortality.

NOTE: Dr. Guerrero is the only doctor in Puerto Vallarta with the ability to perform LASER LIPOSUCTION.
Laser liposuction performed in Puerto Vallarta Mexico at the CMQ Premiere Hospital by Dr. Guerrero, or laser lipo, is a plastic surgery procedure that uses lasers to treat areas with excess fat and contour the body. Laser lipo is also called laser-guided liposuction, Smart Lipo, or laser-assisted lipolysis.
How laser liposuction works
Dr. Guerrero follows one or two methods for his laser liposuction procedure, depending on the body area being treated:
Method 1:
The laser is used in the deep fat to break up the fat cell walls, which allows the fatty oils to leak out and disrupts the cells for subsequent removal. This deep layer also contains small blood vessels that the laser coagulates, leading to less bruising post operatively.
The laser is then used in the superficial layer just under the skin to heat the skin cells to stimulate collagen and elastin production, which enhances skin quality post-treatment.
The final step is the removal of cell fragments and fatty oils, which helps create the final reduction for body contouring.
Method 2:
This technique uses the first two steps above and skips No. 3, the fat cell and oil removal, as that is left to be naturally absorbed and eliminated by the body. This technique is used for areas with thin fat layers, including the face, neck, or where skin tightening alone is needed.
Are you a good laser lipo candidate?
When considering laser lipo, the best candidates typically have one or more of the following conditions:
Excess fat in mild to moderate amounts.
Mild to moderate skin laxity.
From the age of 35 on, a person starts to lose collagen and elastin in the skin. As a result, excessive skin laxity may not be conducive to liposuction alone. However, there are some skin conditions, including cellulite, dimpling, and scarring from previous surgeries, that may be improved with laser liposuction.
Laser lipo is approved to treat the following areas: Abdomen, thighs, knees, arms, neck, face, male breasts, and back rolls.
